Our amazing clients' solar stories
Thank you to all the amazing clients of Malvern Solar! Extra special thanks to those that have shared their stories and experiences working with our team. We thank you, not only for sharing your kind words and permission to share your stories about your projects and customer experience , but for also making a a real difference to this wonderful world we all share.
Mr & Mrs S - Ludlow
Mr and Mrs S agree that insulation is the key to a warm and economical house. They thought they would be clobbered in Winter, but are thrilled that electrical energy is still costing less than £1 per day even in December. Their remarkable savings are shown on the Agile Octopus pictures shown. Read more…
Miss Stephens - Highnam
“I wanted to do my bit towards climate change”.
Miss Stephens saw our advert in the Tewkesbury Borough News and contacted us for advice. She went on to have a ten panel array installed with an average annual output of 2591KW hours. Adding battery storage means she can run her amenities even when there is no sun, and claim money back from the grid.
Over the Summer Miss Stephens was able to run her amenities, power her hybrid car, and claim money back off the grid. She was thrilled with the results and described the whole process as being very straightforward.
Mr and Mrs P - Malvern
Mr. and Mrs. P wanted to install panels for environmental reasons. They also felt, having had panels on a previous house, that they would be making a saving. Mr. P said “Things were rather more expensive and less efficient when I had those fitted. I have got the same number of panels, but they are bigger, generating twice the amount of electricity…. last time the payback would have been much lower (than it is now)”
The savings are clear. Mr. P comments that whilst most people had been paying 17p per unit overnight during the last few days, their energy was costing 2p per unit. As they learn they make further savings through analysing the energy graph and using electricity sensibly.
Paul Hetherington’s three phase installation in Colwall
Why three phase?
Paul was getting high electricity bills due to a thirsty hob and cooker. He already had a solar array, but wasn’t reaping the benefits.
His house is historically interesting with an attractive crenelated roof, surrounding the flat part of the roof, which can’t be seen from the ground. The Malvern Solar team were surprised that this large house was working on a single phase system. We advised Paul to check with his provider whether three phases might be an option due to the size of his house. He eventually got an answer and we had the go ahead!
The solar array Paul had on his flat roof was not big enough to supply energy for a property of this size. We added a further array of more modern panels, generating far more electricity than his original array. Now he was producing so much electricity that he risked wasting some. We added an AC inverter and a huge battery (HVI 1550 V2 from Solax Power). Now he has energy from both his solar arrays feeding into different phases and being collectedf and stored in his battery.
A happy customer
Paul is thrilled with his installation. He says he ‘is saving around £200 on (his) electricity now. I also find that I seem to be exporting too. I guess I’m producing more than the inverters can cope with’.
Paul saved even more through Malvern Solar looking out for current government support.

Testimonial for an air source heat pump installation
“After doing various insulation and glazing improvements to our 1890’s Malvern stone house, I felt the time was right to go for a heat pump. We contacted Will and the team at Solar Malvern and they came out to do a survey. We worked together to get as realistic a picture of the heating requirements of our home as possible and it turned out that we would need some new radiators and a new hot water cylinder. Will and the team prepared quotes for various options, and there was a bit of difference in what some of the manufacturers were coming back with, but in the end we went with the Vaillant 7kW.
When the installation date came the team arrived promptly and we discussed the plan for the installation work. The team were very professional and put down carpet protection and dust sheets before starting any work. The installation took 5 days plus 2 days for snagging, each day I was informed of the work to take place and disruption to heating and hot water was kept to a minimum. This is an older property so finding places to run pipes and mount sensors was quite a struggle for the installation team, I’m not going to pretend that there wasn’t any issues, but they were all resolved in the end. I would say that having a heat pump installed involves quite a lot of disruption and people should be aware of this beforehand.
The result has been well worth it though, the house is always at an even temperature, there is plenty of hot water and it doesn’t cost anymore to run than my old gas boiler did. The unit is outside the kitchen window and makes very little noise, its hardly noticeable at all. I am happy to recommend Solar Malvern to anyone looking to have a heat pump installed.”
