Malvern Solar provide festivals with off-grid power
During the Summer months Malvern Solar have provided solar power, with battery back-up in case of rain, to three off-grid festivals. We transport and construct an array large enough to power an average sized house. It’s a refreshing change to provide power to entertain and educate people. We supplied over 20 kilowatt hours during the Green Gathering last week.
Off-grid festival acts and extras
We are proud to have supported over twenty poets, over sixty bands, ten workshops, two talks, a festival choir and three children’s parties. We powered a whole tent with lighting and sound at Buddhafield Festival in Somerset and at The Green Gathering in Chepstow. We have also powered the tea urn throughout the Unorthodox Paradox Festival, the fridge, freezer and bubble machine for the cocktails in the Raconteurs Tent at the Green Gathering as well as the fridge for the pizza shop next door. We loved the festoon lighting we also powered at the Green Gathering, bringing beauty and light to festival goers in the darkness.
The future
It is inspiring to work alongside others to deliver entertainment, and we now have a slick set up. The organisers of the festivals have asked us to continue next year. Em Wierdigan of the Green Gathering said ‘You just make it look so easy, and we know that there won’t be any problems. It makes our lives so much calmer’.
