Consumer protection: a belt and braces approach

MCS CEO discussion consumer protection

A happy customer makes for a happy team, putting consumer protection at the forefront of what we do here at Malvern Solar. Avid followers will have already read the blog on MCS certification. This is the ‘microgeneration certification scheme’, set up to ensure that companies providing small-scale renewable energies meet a high standard of installation, customer service and support in this growing sector.

On visiting the Installer Show last week, I took an interest in a talk given by MCS. It was led by their CEO Ian Rippin, focussing on future plans and what these mean for installers and consumers.

MCS protecting consumers into the future

The representatives discussed how they intend to make some changes in early 2025. These changes are positive for both consumers and companies. As part of this they will introduce closer monitoring of companies after MCS accreditation has been passed. These will involve giving companies a rating, plus advisories for improvement.  The upside for installers is that they will be given support to improve on any areas of weakness within the company. Quality installations will be central to the inspection process, putting efficiency at the core of our work.

Complaints management will be centralised, meaning that any customer who makes a complaint will be passed onto MCS. They will ensure that any issues with an installation are rectified punctually and professionally, with the installers being given extra training and support so that issues do not recur.

MCS will also undertake to contact customers in receipt of an MCS certificate to ensure that they are completely satisfied with their new installation. Follow the link below to find out more on the MCS website.

Malvern Solar and the new MCS promise

Malvern Solar are thrilled with these changes. We are committed to providing a great service to all of our customers. We are also aware that companies not adhering to the standards will bring a bad name to the renewable technologies we are so keen to promote.

So relax and expect a constantly improving and cutting edge approach from your installers. We are there to support you to choose the right technologies, throughout the process and beyond installation. Unwind whilst we buckle up our belts and tighten the braces, and all with a smile.
