Visiting the Installer Show 2024

Snickers on the catwalk

Members of the Malvern Solar team including administrative staff, installers and even an apprentice visited the Installer Show at Birmingham’s NEC yesterday.

There was a great atmosphere created by a bustle of professionals keen to teach, learn and share exciting technologies, with networking opportunities.

Will, one of our installers, learned about new and competitive air source heat pump technologies as well as more established companies offering different qualities. He loves to go along and keep abreast of new innovations from connector pipes to inverters.

The administrative representative, Es, learned about how to manage administration, with the Heat Geek Team, as well as how the regulatory body MCS are developing their customer protection strategies to be comprehensive and promote customer security and confidence into the future (watch out for a blog on this in the next few weeks).

Politics is very much on everyone’s mind, and there were some interesting debates including one about how to gain government attention for the new alternatives to gas boilers for properties unsuitable for heat pumps. (Blog coming in the next few weeks!).

Skill Builder’s Roger Bisby at the Installer Show

Roger Bisby of Skill Builder channel live

Roger Bisby from Skill Builder YouTube channel was there with Heat Geek installers discussing in his charismatic fashion his experience of poor heat pump installations, and how quality engineers changed his mind about their efficacy. We are fans of the channel despite some of Bisby’s controversial ideas and statements, and he made for a very lively and entertaining panel member.

Work and play in balance

The highlight was being able to enjoy the catwalk shows in the work wear area (with a free beer). We visited the Snickers one… they are definitely installers who really wear the clothes, not models: but they weren’t beneath a ‘striptease’ with one throwing his jacket out into the audience… saucy!

Strip tease makes the Installer Show fun

If you would like to go along to a show, next year’s dates are June 24-26 2025. See you there!
