EVERYTHING ELECTRIC LONDON 2024

Attending the show as certified installers

Both fans of the YouTube channel ‘Fully Charged’, Will and Es of Malvern Solar decided to apply to go to their trade show EVERYTHING ELECTRIC as renewable energy installers, and were thrilled to be welcomed along to the Excel Centre in London.

The experience began before they could leave Malvern, with an episode rather like the old classic roadsters programme ‘Top Gear’, but lacking conspicuous waste and topped with a serving of ethics. Three of the main presenters of the show, Robert LLewellyn, Jack Scarlett and Imogen Bhogal presented a slick explanation of the quickest way to get from Paddington Station to the venue, racing against each other on the tube, in an electric car, or on foot.  Who won was irrelevant. Getting there without leaving a carbon footprint was the name of the game. (Having watched the episode we knew that a car was not the sensible option in this case). We chose the tube.

The venue felt different from other trade shows, carefully picked for being able to drive in and out of it, and with a fresh breeze keeping the punters awake and questioning. There were electric vehicles of every sort throughout the room. Some were functional. Some were breathtakingly beautiful by design. Amongst our favourites is the Carice, from the Netherlands. The designer explained that they had simply made the car that they had always dreamed of, then perfected it. The attention to detail was sublime. We also loved the Morris FE with its quirky mixture of old styling and storage space with polished floorboards akin to decking. These two were designed by true artists of the engineering world, to excite those who thought they would never need an electric car. For those interested in styling and beauty there were also kits for converting classic cars, scooters and bikes.

The other distinguishing feature of the show was the huge presence of air source heat pumps. There were so many stalls at which to learn about, compare and purchase new technologies. We were pleased to find that Vaillant, whose equipment we have already installed, are well-respected amongst professionals for their products, training, and customer support, and were able to discover a couple of competitive companies to improve the range of choices for our customers. We also made valuable connections with well-priced suppliers. The mood of the room suggested that whole house solutions are the way forward, with companies branching out to fit heat pumps alongside solar panels and vehicle charge points.

Malvern Solar are proud to be ahead of the curve, and to have been asked for advice and ongoing support from a smaller company on how to expand a business through supporting customers to benefit fully from their solar installations.
